Mechanical Grease

If the stain is extensive and appears to have deeply penetrated the fabric have the garment dry cleaned. However, if the staining is not severe you could try the following:

  1. In a laundry tub or bucket, make up a hot solution of Persil Small & Mighty powder or liquid (1 scoop / 5 litres of water as hot as the fabric will allow). Leave garment to soak over night. Rinse well. Always check for colourfastness and dye stability before soaking.
  2. If stains have not been removed, rub some concentrated dishwashing liquid onto the stain. Leave for 30 minutes, then rub gently to avoid damaging the fibres.
  3. Follow with a wash using Persil Small & Mighty powder or liquid or Persil Small & Mighty and water as hot as the fabric can tolerate.

Remember: Always read the care label to make sure that your garment will not be damaged when you attempt to remove the stain.

Most stains vanish completely if you act fast and wash the garment normally, but some are more difficult to remove and require special attention.
